The “There’s No Off Switch On This Thing” tour may have been stalled for a while, but the Lads will be jump starting it again in May. The dates for the new tour are posted in the sidebar. Watch the main site for updates. We’ll be posting news over there until the tour kicks off.

We are writing to you as our van heads back to New York. Billy has already returned to New York via plane, and is preparing for surgery.

During last night’s show at Schuba’s in Chicago Billy fell off the stage, landing on a broken pint glass. This happened during the triumphant finale of the set; the stage was crowded with people dancing and singing to ‘Cavalry’, while a strobe light turned their vision into a cut screen movie. His left hand has a gash on the palm, and a deep slice in his pinky finger which also cut tendons.

We regrettably must announce that Schuba’s was the last night of the tour.

We promise to make up each and every show as soon as possible and apologize to everyone who purchased tickets. Arrangements are being made with all of the clubs on how best to handle the situation. We will have more information soon.

Webmaster note: you can send your best wishes to billy@pelamusic.com and I’ll forward them to him.

wilson.jpgPela began their “There’s no off switch on this thing” tour in Boston on Tuesday to a packed house of crazed fans.

The show culminated with singer Billy McCarthy perched with guitar in tow, over looking the rest of his joyful band mates from atop a speaker roughly 10 feet above the floor. The grandest of endings for a spectacular show…..

Pela followed the next night with a hometown show in Williamsburg that left many outside in the cold trying to scalp tickets

to the sold out event. A beginning of a tour that will surely be filled with memorable moments. We leave for Chicago today in total excitement as 2 of the next 3 shows are already sold out as well. Happy trails from the road…..

Word is that the lads sold out the Music Hall of Williamsburg last night. Sadly, that annoying thing called a day job kept me from being there so the best I can do is to provide this shot from the sound check. It was taken during one of the few quiet moments.
